Kitui Village (Kitui, Kenya)

A global coalition of partners has launched the first of several intergenerational, self-sustaining villages for those orphans and elders left hopeless and helpless by the AIDS pandemic. The first village, located in Kitui, Kenya, will serve as the pilot to building other self-sustaining, intergenerational homes for a growing orphan population.

The Kitui village will serve as a home to more than 400 orphans and their caretakers. In addition to more than 40 homes, the Village includes a community center, two staff houses, a chaplain’s house, a clinic, primary school, community hall, and a police post. Construction is currently underway on the tech school.
